Joe Pappy Sumner

Joe S. (Pappy) Sumner Jr., 58, of Zanesville, passed away April 18, 2016 at Genesis Morrison House.

Joe was born December 11, 1957 in Florida, son of Lavon Hare Sumner and the late Joe S. Sumner Sr.  He was a roofer by trade and a veteran of U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Clark-Sumner, whom he married June 10th, 1994; one son, Joe “Boo” Sumner III (Muriel) of Oklahoma; A daughter, Whitney Sumner of Zanesville; Step-daughters Debra and Kristina Poulton of Zanesville;  A brother, Clayton (Jill) Sumner of Florida; sisters, Leslie (Michael) Shattles and Sherry Sumner all of Florida; mother-in-law, Bertha Clark of Noble County; granddaughters, Slyvia Sumner, Heaven Gheen, Hailey and Kierra Poulton, Shanya, Totianna and Carlotta, Sumner; and another expected in June; Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews of Flordia.  Joe will be missed by his family, friends and his dog Sophie.

Joe was preceded in death by his infant grandson, Joe Seafas Sumner IV on August 24, 2014, Grandparents and other family members from Florida.

At the request of Joe no services will be observed a dignified cremation. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Ogle’s Ridge Cemetery in Middleburg, Ohio.

His Army plaque will be placed at the foot on his father’s grave in Lake Mystic Cemetery in Bristol Florida.  There will be a private family celebration of life at a later date.
