Albert E. Hayes

Albert E. 'Al' Hayes, 74, of Zanesville, passed away at 11:00 pm Saturday, September 19, 2015 at his residence.

He was born July 19, 1941 in Zanesville, the son of the late Paul and Bessie Nichols Hayes.

He retired from Cooper Industries (McGraw Edison) following 32 years of service and most recently from Longaberger Company. He enjoyed spending time with family, eating, going to grandchildren’s sporting events and sitting on his front porch.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cheryl Fogelsong Hayes, of the home, whom he married December 4, 1966. Also surviving are a son, Jeffrey (Leisa) Hayes of Norwich; one daughter, Stacie (Mark) Dille of McConnelsville; grandchildren, Cesley Hayes, Cody Fluhart and Austin Dille; sisters, Nancy Newell, Barbara Bryan, Polly Medley and Sheila Medley and brothers, William “Bill” Hayes and Dan Hayes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul “Bud” Hayes and Charles “Chuck” Hayes and sister, Lois “Lo” Saxton.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday with interment at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
