Shirley A. Johnson

Shirley A. Johnson, 60 of Zanesville, passed away on June 30, 2024, peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born on May 18, 1964, in Zanesville, daughter of the late Robert R. Paynter and Wilma R. (Nicholson) Paynter. Shirley was a homemaker for many years before working at NFI Packaging and later at Five B’s. She was a member of East 40 Baptist Church in Norwich. Shirley loved playing BINGO, casino trips, and cooking/baking. Above all, she loved spending her time with her grandchildren and loved ones.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Dale Johnson; daughter, Kayla (Justin Barnhouse) Echelberry; son, Josh (Crystal Henry) Johnson; brothers, John (Brandy) Paynter, William (Melodie) Paynter; grandchildren, Serenity and Laycie; several nieces, nephews, and friends.  

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Paynter Jr., Roy Paynter, Ronnie Paynter, Richard Paynter, David Paynter, Kenny Paynter; sisters, Carol Wolfe and Susan Shriner; nephew, Dylan Paynter.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday July 3, 2024, at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, where services will be held at 12:00 PM with Rev. Darren Tolbert officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Paul Cemetery in Zanesville.
