Sheila K Close

Sheila K. Close, 75 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on June 15, 2024, at her residence under the care of Genesis Hospice.

She was born on August 28, 1948, in Zanesville, Ohio, daughter of the late Lawrence Warne and Blanche (Parker) Warne. Sheila worked at ARMCO/AK Steel for 21 years, where she retired. She enjoyed bowling and beach vacations. In her spare time, she loved watching and feeding the deer and watching her favorite show, Days of Our Lives. Mimi was her favorite title. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sheila is survived by her daughter, Deanna (Randy Porter) Miller; son, Scott (Andi) Gainer; grandchildren, Kailey (Trevor Grant) Miller,  Mallorie Miller; significant other, Randy Day; brother, Ricky Warne; great-grandchildren, Abigail Miller, Cooper Miller, Emersyn Grant; another great-granddaughter, Brechlynn Kay Grant, on the way; nephew, Mitch (Kim) Warne; several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her late husband, Pete Close; and brother, Larry Warne.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate care provided by Genesis Hospice.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday June 20, 2024, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home. Services will be held on Friday June 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home with Rev. Darren Tolbert officiating. Burial will follow services at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
