Roger W. Satterfield, 86 of Zanesville, peacefully went to be with the Lord on November 20, 2023, at the Morrison House in Zanesville.
He was born on November 12, 1937, in Glenford, Ohio, son of the late Milby Freemont Satterfield and Zetta Cecil (Hayslip) Satterfield. Roger was a graduate of Glenford High School and later went to Barber School in Columbus, Ohio. He was a longtime member of the Olivet Church of the Brethren and St. Luke’s Lutheran in Zanesville. Roger was a welder, barber, farmer, carpenter, mason, but more importantly he was a caretaker. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and gardening. Roger will always be remembered for his gentle loving personality.
He is survived by his 7 step-children, Edward Metz of Zanesville, Ernest (Cathy) Metz of Zanesville, Richard (Jane) Metz of Hardy, Virginia, Bradley (Debbie) Metz of Zanesville, Roger (Joyce) Metz of Virginia, Linda (Kim) O’Connell of Biloxi, MS, Lillie (Richard) Rockwell of Mt. Perry; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; brothers-in-laws, John Cooperrider of New Lexington and George Cooperrider of Nokesville, Virginia.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Sarabelle (Cooperrider) Satterfield; brothers, Ray Satterfield, Morris Satterfield, Rodney Satterfield, and Scotty Satterfield; sisters, Eileen Shaffer, Jean Stewart, and Phyllis DeLong.
Calling hours will be held on Monday November 27, 2023, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where Memorial Services will be held at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow services at Olivet Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
In honor of Roger, donations can be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church or Genesis Hospice of Zanesville.
