Roberta "Bertie" Davis

Roberta "Bertie" (Bailey) Davis, 99 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on February 11, 2024, at her residence under the care of her family.

She was born on July 16, 1924, in Union West Virgina, daughter of the late Isiah B. Bailey and Lottie (Hutchinson) Bailey. Roberta was a member of the Sharon Avenue Free Methodist Church in Zanesville for over 77 years. She worked at Brockway Glass for several years, where she retired. Roberta loved to go to church and to make her quilts. In her spare time, she enjoyed taking trips back to West Virginia to visit. Above all, she loved spending her time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Gene (Linda) Davis; 7 grandchildren: Jenny (Mark) Haga, Cherie (Darryl Graves) Davis-Bronkar, James (Melanie) Smith, Josh (Carrie) Smith, Robert (Monica) Davis, Toni Davis-Evans, Tommy Davis; step-grandchild, Amber Kern; 20 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Lora Paisley.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Thomas Davis; daughter, Gloria (Gay) Davis-Smith; brothers, Charles Bailey, Daniel Bailey. Thomas Bailey, Samuel Bailey; sisters, Margaret Peterman, Ann Carte; granddaughters, Tonya Davis, Tina Davis; step-grandchild, Angela Hale; and son-in-law, Danny Smith.

The family would like to give a special thanks to granddaughter, Jenny Haga and Shriver’s Hospice for the special care and attention given to Roberta.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday February 14, 2024, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home. Services will be held on Thursday February 15, 2024, at 10:00 AM with Rev. Bell Shaw officiating. Burial will follow services at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
