Robert "Gus" G Collins

Robert "Gus" Collins, 88 of South Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on December 28, 2022, at his residence.

He was born on December 22, 1934, in Zanesville, Ohio, son of the late Hillis Collins and Mabel (Hutchins) Collins. Gus was a veteran of the Navy, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the Nashport Irville Methodist church and Southeastern Ohio Defense Corp. He worked in maintenance at Ohio Ferro Alloy for 21 years and later at United Tech for 19 years, where he retired. In his spare time, he loved to fish and listen to his country records.

He is survived by his son, Dan (Cheryl) Collins; daughters, Kathy (John) Mayle, Lorena (Glenn) Tom, Kim (Jeff) Hoffman; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Emily Jean (Hunter) Collins; grandson, DJ Collins; brother, Donald Collins; and sister, Jean Vandiver.  

Calling hours will be held on Friday December 30, 2022, from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home. Services will be held on Saturday December 31, 2022, at 11:00 AM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home. Full military honors will be presented by The United States Navy in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058.  Burial will follow services at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
