Richard “Harley” Holbert, 88 of Zanesville, passed peacefully in his sleep on December 21, 2025, at his residence.
He was born on January 3, 1937, in Zanesville, Ohio, son of the late Henry Holbert and Sylvia (Cunningham) Holbert. Harley graduated from Hopewell High School in 1956. He worked as a Steel Worker for Ohio Ferro Alloy and continued Steel Work for several years, before retiring. He was a member of Mt. Sterling United Methodist Church, loved gardening, and taught many generations baseball and basketball fundamentals. Above all, he loved spending his free time with his family and loved ones.
Harley is survived by his 4 children: Kim (Ray) Cook, Kelley (Jim) Settles, Mark Holbert, Matt (Tricia Sites) Holbert; daughter-in-law, Tonya Holbert; grandchildren, Mitchell, Marcus and Brittany Cook, JP and Cameron Settles, Megan Yingling, Shane Holbert and Olivia Holbert; great-grandchildren, Kace Bowen, Emma and Anthony Rivers, Preston Cook, Meison Smith, Grayson, Gavin Yingling, Frankie Settles, Ridge Holbert, and another baby boy Holbert on the way; several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Goldie (Moore) Holbert; son, Mike Holbert; infant daughter, Kathy Holbert; brothers, Phil Holbert and Ernie Holbert; sisters, Madelyn German and Dorothy Knaup.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday December 23, 2025, from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM and Wednesday December 24, 2025, from 10:00 AM -11:00 AM, at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will be held on Wednesday December 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM with Charles Norris officiating. Burial will conclude services at Mt. Sterling Cemetery.
