Rachel Lucille (Rector) Lanning

Rachel Lucille Lanning, 96, of Heath, passed away February 26, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

She was born June 5, 1929, in Newark, daughter of the late, Floyd Rector and Hazel Davis.  She was the City Registrar for Newark Health Department.  Rachel was a member of Altrusa Chapter of Newark.

She is survived by her sons, Joseph D. (Jan) Lanning of Newark, David M. (Cindy) Lanning of Heath, Terry L. Lanning of Newark; daughter Debra Sue Ambrus of Heath; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph (Joby) Blake Lanning; four brothers, and three sisters.

Calling hours will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Monday, March 2nd 2026,  where services will take place at Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N 21st St, Newark, OH 43055 with Rev. Darren Tolbert officiating. Private interment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
