Martha Y Mitchell

Martha Yvonne Mitchell, 88, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on May 7, 2026, at her home.

She was born on November 7, 1937, in Zanesville, Ohio, daughter of the late William Glen Perry and Vivian Juanita Anders. Martha was a homemaker and later worked as a Dietitian for the Zanesville City Schools and in the County Home in Zanesville. She was a member of the American Legion Post 29 and VFW Post 1058 of Zanesville. She was a great cook, enjoyed sewing, watching Seinfeld and reading or watching anything history related.

Martha is survived by her 3 sons: Charles (Stacie) Frakes Jr., Mark (Marla) Mitchell, and Matthew (Susan) Mitchell; daughter, Cathy (Steve) Matson; 5 grandchildren: Charles “Phillip” Frakes, Mary Beth Kreisher, Steve Matson Jr, Stacie Deavers, and Kelsey Matson; 9 great grandchildren: Noel Frakes, Kaitlyn Tucker, Sophia Frakes, Charlee Kreisher, Millee Kreisher, Corbin Kreisher, Collin Deavers, Annabelle Deavers, Zander Matson; brothers, James (Ramona) Shafer, Dan Shafer, sisters, Mary Sue (William) McCormick, Davene Brown; special niece, Jamie Flowers; family friends, Lori and Rachel Mangus; special dog, Daisy; several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her 1st husband, Charles Eugene Frakes; 2nd husband, Albert Anthony Mitchell; brother, Dick Shafer; sister, Joyce Mahon; stepfather, Willis Shafer; best friend, Ralph Bland; and special friend, Thelma Rockwell.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday May 16, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor Cheryl Khyllep officiating. Burial will conclude services at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Zanesville.
