Leonard L. Lanning, 83 of Zanesville, passed away June 18, 2020 at Adams Lane Care Center surrounded by family.
He was born May 22, 1937 in Zanesville, son of the late Frederick B. Lanning and Ethel M. Yocum. He was a United States Army Veteran and retired from Essex Wire after twenty nine years of service. He was a member of Immanuel Church Downtown Zanesville. He loved watching baseball, singing, listening to Elvis & Eddie Arnold, watching westerns on the television, and was avid Ohio State Buckeye fan.
He is survived by his son Robert (Rene) Lanning; daughters, Lee Ann (David) Near, Emily (Frederick) Shumate; daughter-in-law Boni Satterfield; siblings, Sally Dingey, Richard (Linda) Lanning; eighteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia J. Lanning whom he married May 22, 1960; son Wilbur “Webb” Lanning; brothers, Jack (Carol) Lanning, Wilbur Williams, Ernest Williams; sister Elouise Scott; grandson Robert “Bobby Lee” Lanning.
Calling hours will be held Monday June 22, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will take place at 1:00 PM with Sam Osborne officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date with full military honors conducted by The United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29 at Williams Cemetery.
Per family request attendees are asked to wear self-provided face coverings. Anyone that is feeling sick or show flu like symptoms are asked not to attend.
