Joseph D Maxwell

Joseph D. Maxwell, born August 6, 1968, the son of the late Edwin and Ruby Maxwell, passed away April 19, 2025, from a massive heart attack at his home.

Joe was employed with Dollar General warehouse as a maintenance electrician for over 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, going hunting at the hunting cabin, cooking on his grill, and having fires in his back yard beside his longtime companion Walley.

He leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Sue Maxwell; 2 brothers: Charles Maxwell, Edwin (Amy) Maxwell; sister, Gail (Woodrow) McConiha; 3 nieces: Jennifer Maxwell, Jody Maxwell, and Heather Maxwell; 4 great nieces and nephew: Destiny Jones, Ciera McNeal, Tiera Maxwell, Trenton Pitts, and Jadeason Smithson; 2 great great nieces: Alaya McNeal and Alexiana Jones; 3 aunts: Wanda Carnes Pearl Fesler, Ruth Burkett; best friends, Steve Wilson and Dwaine Goins; special hunting friends; several cousins and other great friends.  

He is proceeded and death by his grandparents Lala and Charles Burkett and Joseph and Edith Maxwell; several aunts and uncles.

Calling hours will be  held from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Thursday April 24, 2025, at Delong and Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will be held at 8:00 PM with Pastor Jamie Harrop officiating. Per Joe’s wishes, a dignified cremation will take place following services.
