John L. Shumate

John L. Shumate, 76 of Zanesville, passed away August 27, 2020 at his residence.

He was born November 16, 1943 in Zanesville, son of the late Samuel Shumate and Esther Parkinson Shumate. 

He is survived by his son Christopher (Georgeanna) Shumate; sisters, Linda Harris, and Saundra Holbert; brother Jerry Shumate; grandchild Haylee Shumate, Daniel Shumate and Christopher Shumate Jr.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, William Shumate, Harry Shumate, Gerald Shumate and Clarence Shumate; sisters, Phyllis Tabler, Betty Johnson.

Calling hours will be held 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will take place at 5:00 pm.  A private family burial will take place at a later date.
