John E. Hoppstetter, 89 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, at Altercare of Zanesville Nursing Home.
He was born on September 3, 1935, in Zanesville, Ohio, son of the late John M. Hoppstetter and Frances (Waltman) Hoppstetter. John worked at Ohio State Mill and Sawyer Mill for many years. He enjoyed front porch sittin’ and swinging; and watching his shows, Gunsmoke and Bonanza.
John is survive by his 3 daughters: Lora Hoppstetter, Kelly Gohring, Johnna (Ronnie) Evans; grandchildren, Levi (Laura) Boudinot, Carrie (Justin) Boudinot-Stotts, Vanessa (Chris) Minner, John Gohring, Jeremy Gohring, Jadlyn Evans; great grandchildren, Colton, Keeley (Cody) Senig, Landon, Blane, Zane, Payton, Aubrey, Lillyan, Ryan, Madison Underwood, Brandon Underwood; special dog, Penny; several other family members and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Gloria Hoppstetter; son, John F. Hoppstetter; sister, Alda Belle Hoppstetter; and son-in-law, John Gohring.
Per John’s wishes, no calling hours or services will be held at this time. A dignified cremation has been entrusted to DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home.
