We are sad to announce the passing of James “Bill” W. Floyd of Roseville, Ohio, who died at the age of 85 on October 24, 2023, after a battle with liver cancer.
He was born on April 15, 1938, in Zanesville, Ohio, son of the late Edgar Earl Floyd and Cena “Monna” (Elmore) Floyd. He was a graduate of Deavertown High School, class of 1956. In his early career, he worked as an employee for a water drilling rig and plumbing company. He retired from Ohio Ferro Alloy after 20 years in Maintenance and as an Electrician.
Bill was a jack of all trades. He could repair and build just about anything. He loved fishing and went on many fishing excursions with his friends to Tennessee and Canada but loved pond fishing just as much. He would frequently reminisce about his fun filled times at the Alloy. Being a rambunctious country boy, he loved his farm and pond. He could not get enough of sharing stories with his family about growing up on the farm. Bill never met a stranger and had a great sense of humor. All he came in contact with would inevitably get a nickname, since he had a hard time remembering names.
Bill is survived by his wife, Linda (Sagle) Floyd of 34 years. 2 siblings: Sharlene McNeish and Gary Floyd; daughters, Deborah Floyd, Chris (John) Bebout, Teresa Pickering; stepdaughter, Sherry Graham; 2 grandchildren: Tylor (Kayla) Pickering and Emily (Curt) Bellville; step grandson, Casey Graham; great grandchildren, Grace Pickering, Penelope Bellville, Oliver Bellville, Kayleigh Pickering, and Kayden Pickering.
Bill is preceded in death by his father, E.E. “Fred” Floyd and Cena “Monna” (Elmore) Floyd.
Per Bill’s wishes, there will be a private family ceremony.
