James C Rutter

James Chester Rutter, 65 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 12, 2022 at Genesis Morrison House of Zanesville.

He was born on December 2, 1956, in Newark, Ohio, son of the late Chester Rutter and Leona Caulkins Rutter. James worked for the City of Zanesville for many years, where he retired. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and his Cincinnati Reds. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family the most.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Betty L. Rutter; son, Dusty Rutter; daughters, Laura Wickham, Melinda Rutter, Jamie Rutter; grandchildren, Nathan Suttles, Tyler Bradley, Sarah Suttles, McQuaylah Logan, Daishawn Logan; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Jaxson, Kahlani, Oaklynn, and Alonnah.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Keith and Betty J. Rutter.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday March 15, 2022 from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home. Services will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Herb Perry officiating. Per his wishes, a dignified cremation will take place after services.
