James Allen Dobbins

James Allen Dobbins Sr., 76 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 3, 2021.

He was born on April 2,1945 in Zanesville, son of the late Arthur Eugene Dobbins and Mary Boyd Jennison. James was a veteran of the Army from 1963-1966. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. In his free time, he enjoyed riding “around the block” on his Harley. He belonged to several motorcycle clubs over the years. He was well loved and extremely generous, always willing to help, even on his worst day.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Dobbins; daughters, Chantay Dobbins and Michelle (Stephen) Persinger; sons, James Dobbins II, Timothy Dobbins; step-children, Sam Sheets, Joshua Sheets, Rachel Sowers; 6 siblings; 12 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 9 of his siblings.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday December 9, 2021 from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM. Services will be held on Friday December 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM with Sam Savage officiating.  Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and American Legion Post 29. A dignified cremation will take place after services.
