Howard "Stoney" L. Stoneking

Howard “Stoney” Stoneking, 72 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Friday May 23, 2025, at Genesis Hospital of Zanesville.

He was born on June 7, 1952, in Zanesville, Ohio. Stoney worked at the Licking County Sherriff’s Department for 30 plus years, where he retired. He later went back to work for Genesis Hospital in security for 18 years. He enjoyed playing Texas Hold Em’ in his spare time. Above all, he loved spending his time with his grandchildren and loved ones.  

Howard is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Juanita (Seevers) Stoneking; 2 children: Cindy Brewer and Jeremy Sorenson; 5 grandchildren: Kimberly Ball, Olivia Brewer, Angel Sorenson, Bethaney Sorenson, Crystal Sorenson; 8 great-grandchildren; niece, Mindy; and special dog, Sammy.

In addition to his parents, Stoney is preceded in death by his brother, David Alexander; and niece, Stacy Price.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday May 28, 2025, from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home.
