George Russell Maxwell Jr.

George Russell Maxwell Jr., 62 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 18, 2022 at his residence.

He was born on November 1, 1959, in Zanesville, son of the late George R. Maxwell Sr. and Mary Paynter Maxwell. George graduated from Sheridan High School in 1979. He went on to work at Anchor Hocking Glass, where he retired. In his spare time, he loved to hunt, fish, go camping, and he always enjoyed a nice ride on his motorcycle.

He is survived by his special friend, Debbie Digiando; son, Richard (Margo) Maxwell; daughters, Kayla (Andy Bateson) Maxwell, Malori Maxwell; brother, Stanley (Brenda Winters) Maxwell, Mary Jane (Randy) Reagan, Linda Maxwell, Sue (Justin) Stevens; grandchildren, Carly Fitz, Jordan Fitz, Liam Bateson; many nieces and nephews; special cat, Mister.

He is preceded in death by his father, George R. Maxwell Sr.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday March 23, 2022 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home. Services will be held on Thursday March 24, 2022 at 11:00 at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home with Rev. Darren Tolbert officiating. Burial will follow services at Mt. Perry Cemetery.
