Gary Gill Obituary

Gary L. Gill, 76 of Zanesville, passed away at the Oaks of North Pointe in Zanesville after a brief illness.

He was born on January 25, 1948, to Bonnie and James Gill, who preceded him in death, along with his sisters, Linda Ross and Sharon Starr, and grandson, Cody Gill.

Gary is survived by 3 sons: Troy Gill, David Gill, and Scooter (Gary Jr.), as well as four grandchildren: David Gill Jr., Bryan Gill, Brandon Gill, and Chance Gill, and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Russell Gill; sister, Ruth Fraley; and special friends, Jennifer Stotts, Chasitti Koons, and Tracey Murphy.

Gary will be remembered for his sense of humor, his stubbornness, and his ability to always speak his mind. Despite his grumpy exterior, those who knew him best know that he was really just a softy.

Gary worked as an oilfield worker in his younger years until the physical toll became too much. He then ran Dispatch deliveries for several years.

In recent years, he played the role of grumpy old man to a tee. Some days were grumpier than others. (Personally, we think he did it just to get a razz out of folks.) One of his favorite pastimes was to give his nurses and aids a hard time. He enjoyed many late-night chats with his special friends.

The family would like to thank ALL of the staff at the Oaks of Northpointe for their care and friendship for Gary over the years. The family would also like to thank Genesis Hospice for their help as well.

Per Gary’s wishes, no calling hours or services will be held. A caring cremation will be held at this time through DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home.

DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
