Francis Xavier Burns Jr.

Francis Xavier Burns Jr. lost his struggle with mental illness on January 1, 2021 at the age of 61.  Frank had recently returned to Ohio after spending the last five years in Los Angeles, California.

Frank was born on July 3, 1959 in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a graduate Guernsey Central Catholic High School and Ohio University. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Ohio University and completed numerous graduate classes in English and Library Science at both Ohio University and Kent State University. Frank was an incredibly intelligent, unbelievably well-read person that could carry on a conversation on any topic with unmatched knowledge and detail. His love of music played a tremendous roll in his life, from singing with friends in various bands, to always having an extensive and eclectic collection of records, tapes and CD’s. He was adventurous and determined in his life endeavors, spending multiple years teaching English and traveling throughout China. Frank served his country in the Unites State Navy as an Intelligence Specialist on the USS John F. Kennedy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marilyn A. Burns (2006) and Francis X. Burns Sr (2009). He is survived by his sisters, Maureen Bates of Cambridge, Ohio; Peggy Burns of Essex, Vermont and Kathleen (Bobby) Williams of Greenfield, Ohio and his brother, Will (Amy) Burns of Waterville, Ohio. Frank is also survived by his loving group of nieces and nephews including; Bridget (Aaron) Todd, Dan (Terri) Sestina, Sean Sestina, Caitlin Bates, Laura Bates, Devin Lefebvre, Ryan McConahy, Brooke McConahy, Braeden Burns and Derek Burns and his circle of long-time friends.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Frank on Friday, January 8, at 11:00 a.m., at Christ Our Light Parish (St. Benedict Church) in Cambridge, Ohio. Burial will be immediately following at Mt Calvary Cemetery in Cambridge, Ohio.
