Dorothy Jane Brown, 99 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, at the Willow Haven Nursing Home in Zanesville.
She was born on January 14, 1926, in Zanesville, Ohio, daughter of the late Harrell James Maxwell and Julia Mary (Wheeler) Maxwell. Dorothy attended the Rolling Plains Church in Zanesville. She worked for Zanesville City Schools in the cafeteria for over 16 years and later worked at Modern Cleaners for several years. She loved cooking and making crafts. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and deer. Above all, she loved spending her time with her family and loved ones.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sharma Brown; granddaughter, Michelle (Aaron) French; sisters, DeLores Pickrell and Marylyn Harrigan; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; special grand puppies, Bella, Elsa, and Daisey.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Brown Sr.; son, Louis Brown Jr.; 5 brothers: Richard Maxwell, Raymond Maxwell, Donald Maxwell, William Maxwell, Douglas Maxwell; 3 sisters: Linda Cottrell, Virginia Crawmer, and Shirley Bateson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday July 5, 2025, from 12:00PM – 2:00 PM at the Masonic Temple in Duncan Falls with Rev. Darla Revennaugh officiating.
