Donald Lee Goodyear, Sr. 89 passed away peacefully in his home Saturday October 10, 2020 after a two year battle with cancer.
He was born November 6, 1930 in South Zanesville to the late Donald Gelhart Goodyear and Mable (Morgan) Goodyear Burgess. He was employed by United Technologies for 43 years before he retired. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of the US Trotting association. After retirement he raised and raced Standard bred horses at the county fairs, Scioto Downs and The Meadows in Washington, PA. Don also enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years Norma J (Wilson) Goodyear of the home; a daughter Debra L. (Goodyear) Moore of Spring, Texas and a son Donald L (Linda) Goodyear, Jr. of Nashport, Ohio.
One granddaughter Ashley (Dustin) Wilson, three step grandchildren, Shaun Vandermark, Travis (Gabriela) Vandermark and Kelli (Mike) Francis of Ohio.
One great grandson Patrick Wilson of Texas and eight great step grandchildren Madison, Meghan, Aydden, Beau, Taylor, Layla, Kanter and Kooper of Ohio.
Several Nieces and nephews in Florida, Califirnia, New Jersey and Arizona.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, a sister Dorothy Fussner of NJ, a sister Donna Mae Pyle Detty of FL, a son-in-law Patrick Moore of Texas, a step granddaughter Jaime of Ohio and a step great grandson Mason of Ohio and several nephews.
DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home will be in charge of caringly preparing him for cremation. Per his request, no calling hours will be observed.
