Darlene L. McDonald, 70, of Avondale, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on July 11, 2025, at her residence.
She was born on May 25, 1955, in Sioux City, Iowa, daughter of the late Robert Pierce and Mary Ann Jonasson. Darlene graduated from Wilson High School in Long Beach California. She was a longtime waitress, working at TJ’s, LB’s, and later at Cracker Barrel for 16 years, where she retired. She enjoyed her scratch off lottery tickets and loved fishing. Above all, she loved spending her time with her family and loved ones.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, William “Bill” McDonald Sr.; 6 children: William “Bill” (Katrisha) McDonald, Jolinda (Joe) Seevers, Tammy (Cliff) Bearden, Tracy (Alton) McDonald, Tasha McFee, Terri (James) Binkley; 2 brothers: Rob Pierce and Konrad Pierce; 3 sisters: Jacquelin (Randy) Lee, Jennifer (Paul) Williams, Susan (Herb Erbig) Jonasson; 20 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; special cats, Speedy and Dora.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Vernon “Roy” Pierce; 2 sisters: Wendy Edwards and Georgia Pierce; sister-in-law, Averil Pierce; special dogs, Gizmo and Sammy.
Per Darlene’s wishes, no calling hours or services will be held at this time. A dignified cremation has been entrusted to DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home.
