Claudine "Fern" Romine

Claudine “Fern” Romine, 83 of Zanesville passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, at Altercare Zanesville.

Fern was born September 12, 1941, in New Lexington, Ohio daughter of the late Claude McClintock and Mary (Kassler) McClintock.  

Fern had a sharp-witted personality and to all who knew her would testify, she was very smart.  (Fern would be in strong agreement of this sentiment).  She had a daily routine of reading the newspaper (any publication) cover to cover.  She loved the challenge of a crossword puzzle, enjoyed bird watching and “television” shows such as Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and to top that off, a super charged episode of Judge Judy. 

She is survived by her children Kim (Marvin) Shipley of Philo and Matthew Welch of Chillicothe, 4 grandchildren; Amber Welch, Andrew Robbins, Matthew Welch, Adam Welch, 3 great grandchildren; Milah, Waylon and Cameron, sisters Donna (Earl) Kane, Sharon Carney, several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends including Jamie, Maureen and Cindy. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Timothy L. Romine, son, Guy David Welch; grandchildren Travis Robbins and Brandy Welch, 5 siblings; Doug McClintock, Charles “Bruce” McClintock, James McClintock, twin brother Claude “Fred” McClintock and Barb Holden. 

The family of Fern would like to thank the Genesis Hospice team for their kindness and care during this difficult time. 

Per the wishes of Fern, no calling hours or services will be held at this time.  A dignified cremation has been entrusted to Delong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home.
