Clarence “Butter” May, 62 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his friends and family on Tuesday January 21, 2025, at his residence.
He was born on October 12, 1962, in Zanesville, Ohio, son of the late Calvin May and Mildred (Cunningham) May. Butter was a graduate of Zanesville High School in 1980 and a member of the American Legion in Zanesville. He worked for Essex Wire for over 19 years and later at American Health Network in Columbus. He enjoyed camping, cookouts, and Jack with a splash of Coke. Above all, Butter loved spending his time with his grandbabies and loved ones. He loved and was loved by many.
Butter is survived by his 2 children: Brittany (Tylor) Hartwell, Ben Lucas; sister, Karen May; brother, Michael May; grandchildren, Taylor May, Bailey Hartwell Chaye Lucas, Connor Novaria, Marley Miller, Zara Lucas; niece, Courtney (Natosha) May; nephews, Danny (Tammy) Dilts Jr., William “Dutch” (Jessica) Dilts, Paul Dilts, Scott May, Robert May Jr.; special family friend, Lee Bundy; special friends, Sarah (John) Eltringham, Brandon, Ashlynn, JD, Jayden; brother-in-law, Danny Dilts Sr.; many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert May Sr.; sister, Linda Dilts; sister-in-law, Diane Lay-May.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday January 25, 2025, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, where services will be held at 3:00 PM with Rev. Darren Tolbert officiating. A dignified cremation will take place following services.
