Brenda J. Gregg, 77, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away suddenly surrounded by her closest loved ones on February 10, 2026, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville.
She was born on August 10, 1948, in Zanesville, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles Robert Hughes and Felice (Sharrer) Hughes. Brenda was a graduate of John Glenn High School in 1966 and a member of the Sonora Church. She worked at McDonalds for over 20 years as a manager and in Home Health with Interim for 13 years. Brenda enjoyed shopping/thrifting and meeting with her lady’s group of 15 years, ‘The Flower Chicks’; where they led off every meeting with her favorite song ‘You are my Sunshine’. Above all, she loved spending her time with her family and her grandchildren.
Brenda is survived by her son, Shawn (Brooke) Gregg; 4 grandchildren: Alyssa (Jarrett) Fortner, Alexandria (Jarren) Linscott, Zachary (Gracie) Gregg, Zyler Gregg; 5 great grandchildren: Neveah, Ryder, Vera, Jax, Cash; sister, Pamela (Jeff) Maxwell; brothers, Charles “Bob” Hughes II, Jamie (Sue) Hughes; special nieces and nephews, Bobby (Christy) Hughes, Demetri (Alisha) Hughes, and Ruby (Josh) Ohm; her church family; her special group of lady friends, ‘The Flower Chicks’; bonus grandchildren; and many other loved nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John Forest Gregg.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday May 1, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Pastor Johnny Knowland officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held following at Sonora United Methodist Church at 4540 Old County Ln, Zanesville, OH 43701.
