Bernice M Hiett

Bernice M. Hiett, 95 of Zanesville, went to be with the Lord on July 9, 2022.

She was born on September 9, 1926, in Zanesville, daughter of the late Judson Lighthizer and Alma Swingle Lighthizer. Bernice was a member of the Northside Church of the Nazarene for 65 years. She taught Sunday school and Children’s Church for many years. She also worked at Essex Wire, but more importantly was a homemaker and a mother.  

She is survived by her sons, Merel (Linda) Pickenpaugh, Rick (Teresa) Pickenpaugh, Thomas Hiett Jr.; daughter, Linda (David) Walter; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her special dog, Buddy.  

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Hiett Sr.; 3 brothers, Sam Lighthizer, Billy Lighthizer, and Judson Lighthizer; 3 sisters, Mabel, Lula, and Mildred.

Calling hours will be held on Friday July 15, 2022 from 12:00-1:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home. Services will be held on Friday July 15, 2022 at 1:00 PM with Pastor James Miller officiating. Burial will follow services at Greenwood Cemetery in Zanesville, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Bernice to the Northside Church of the Nazarene in Zanesville, Ohio.
