Barbara J Welker

Barbara Jean Welker, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully June 19th, 2022 at the age of 92.  No one was surprised that she lived to that age except perhaps, Barb herself.  Barb lived her whole life in Zanesville, OH and was known for her witty nature and love of family. 

Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Welker (2013), son Christopher Kirby (2003), daughter Susie (Mark) Harpell (2018). 

She is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Scott) McKinley and two step-sons, Steve (Judi) Welker, Doug Welker.  Barb had ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.  Barb treasured her many life-long friends to include Barbara Cavinee, Donna Kirby, Martha & Ed Hartman and Sandy Hinckle.  Barb was an accomplished seamstress and made many clothes for Cathy and Susie growing up as well as making clothing as a side business.  She worked in the Orthodontist office of Dr. Murray and later for Dr. O’Neil.  Barbara loved music and was a member of the Zanesville Singers.  She was also an avid card player and enjoyed many years as a member of a local card club.  Barb was active in planning and organizing her 1948 Lash High School reunions.  Among all of her accomplishments, her family was her treasure.  Barb was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church and then Central Trinity United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be June 23, 2022 at 11 AM followed by a service at 12:00 PM at DeLong and Baker Funeral Home in Zanesville with Pastor Jon Exman officiating. Family and friends are invited to a gathering afterwards at 1310 Pfeifer Dr in Zanesville.
