Anna May Smith, 85, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026, at Willow Haven Nursing Home in Zanesville.
She was born on April 11, 1941, in Caldwell, Ohio, daughter of the late Everett Hill and Gladys Wheeler. She was a much-loved member of the Fellowship of Christ’s Community and called Central Presbyterian Church her “church home”. Prior to Willow Haven, she found joy in attending concerts, watching anything country related and playing in the Fellowship Bell Choir. Once at Willow Haven, she appointed herself as an Activity Department Assistant and official greeter to new residents.
Her happiest moments were spent in activities, and she wanted Margaret and Jackie to know how much she loved them. To all the staff who showed her so much love, know that she loved you also. “Happy Trails” Anna May.
Anna May is survived by her son, Thomas (Lynette) Smith Jr.; 3 granddaughters; sister-in-law, Sylvia Hill; many friends at Willow Haven; several other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Smith Sr.; 2 brothers: David “Squeek” Hill and Donnie Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Genesis Hospice or Central Presbyterian Church.
Per Anna May’s wishes, a dignified cremation has been entrusted to DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home.
