Allen E Hamler

Allen E. Hamler, 84 of Philo, peacefully went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2023.

He was born on September 3, 1938, in Zanesville, Ohio, son of the late Kenneth Hamler and Vera (Edgell) Hamler. Allen worked at Carter Farms as a young man and later worked at Brockway Glass, where he retired. After retirement, he and his wife, Barbara, started Hamler Veil Farms. In his spare time, he enjoyed his time riding his tractors, drinking his coffee at his cabin, and keeping the farm going. He was always known to be a very hard working and loving man.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen (Lee) Groves; sons, Daniel (Holly) Wilson, Mark Wilson; grandchildren, Samantha, David, Stephanie, Jessica, Nathan, Courtney, Ariel; several great-grandchildren; special niece, Angie; his favorite little Jackasses, Cosmo and Max.  

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Barbara Cheek-Wilson Hamler; brothers, Franklin Hamler, Delano Hamler; and sister, Patricia “Patty”.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday March 8, 2023, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home. Services will be held on Wednesday March 8, 2023, at 1:00 PM with Chaplain Gary Cooper officiating. Burial will follow services at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
