Agnes “Jean” Cairo, 84 of Zanesville, peacefully went to be with the Lord on April 27, 2023, at the Morrison House of Zanesville.
She was born on June 1, 1938, in Athens, Ohio, daughter of the late Worth Ray Peyatt and Mary (Hale) Peyatt. Jean worked as a nurse’s aide for many years during her time in California and at County Home in Zanesville. She served as a caregiver for her in laws after retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed singing karaoke, crocheting, cooking/baking, gardening, and reading her Bible. Most of all, she enjoyed her time spent with her kids and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Coleena “Jane” (Mike Morgan) Cairo; sons, Robert (Marsha) Cairo, Jr. (Darla) Stewart, Rick (Ruth) Stewart, Duane Bryant; grandchildren, Jessica (Tony) Atlanta (Jeremy), Destiny, Harley (Stephanie), Paige, Misty, Tyler, Trevor, 4 more; great-grandchildren, Kevin, Mattie, Dromayne, Ky, Levi, Colten, Waylon, Presley, Zayden; special friend, David Gross; many other friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins; special dog, Girl Girl.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 30 plus years, Bobbie Gene Cairo; brothers, William Peyatt, Charles Peyatt, 1 half-brother; sister, Dorothy Slonaker; and 3 half-sisters.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday May 2, 2023, from 2:00 PM -4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home. Services will be held on Wednesday May 3, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow services at St. Paul Cemetery.
