William R. Carpenter, 88, of Zanesville, passed away March 12, 2018 at Genesis Hospital.
He was born December 16, 1929 in Marietta, son of the late, Archie Carpenter and Mable Miller Carpenter. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and graduated from Zanesville High School. He was contractor by trade and veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by his sons, Randy (Brenda) Carpenter of Tennessee, Rob (Amy) Carpenter of Indiana; daughter, Jenny Ruschau of Zanesville; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna L. Carpenter; daughter, Beth Ann Carpenter; grandson, Sean Ruschau.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will Christian Vigil will be held at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the funeral home with Father Martin J. Ralko officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery with full Military honors conducted by the United States Marine Corps. in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and American Legion Post 29.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 or American Legion Post 29 in memory of William R. Carpenter.
