Margaret E. (Shumate) Thompson Mellen

Margaret E. Shumate Thompson Mellen, 87, of Zanesville, passed away May 4, 2017 at The Oaks at Bethesda.

She was born February 21, 1930 in Zanesville, daughter of the late, Amos Shumate and Della Wyatt Shumate.  She worked as a nurses aid and was a member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her sons, George (Fawn) Thompson Jr. of Pataskala, David Thompson of Zanesville, Tim (Alma) Thompson of Zanesville; daughter, Jenny Thompson of Zanesville; step-children, Amy Hamby, George Mellen Jr., Dale Mellen; sisters, Dottie Skelton, Ruth Ann McElroy; grandchildren, Timmy (Mary Jo) Thompson Jr., Della Thompson, Danielle Raynes, Erika Stern, Matthew Thompson Harris, Tracey Ramsey; several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, George Thompson and George Mellen; brothers, Walt Shumate, Clarence Shumate, Arthur Shumate, Russell Shumate; sisters, Juanita Himmelspach, Rosie Faust and Betty Brown.

Calling hours will be held 2:00 p.m. to 3:00p.m. Monday, May 8, 2017 at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home where services will take place 3:00p.m.  Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.
