October 23, 1929 ~ April 17, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Edwin (Eddie/Ed) George

Eddie George, 87, passed away April 17, 2017 at the Brookdale Senior Living facility in Zanesville, Ohio.

Eddie was born to Cassel O. George & Elizabeth (Kinney) George on October 23, 1929 at Meadow Farm in Zanesville.  His loving wife of 57 years Dorothy (Dillon) George preceded him in death.  Eddie was also a beloved brother to two brothers and three sisters who all preceded him in death.

He is survived by a Son Robert W. George/Deborah Ann George of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho and a step Daughter Janie Delany of Cape Coral, Florida and five Grand Daughters and nine Great Grandchildren.

Eddie was a lifelong member of the I.B.E.W. (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) and worked around the country in various locations from Valdez, AK to Pittsburgh, PA.  He was actively involved in the growth and building of the downtown skyline of Pittsburgh, PA in the early to mid-70’s.

Eddie was also a member of the Masons Honor Lodge #726 in Zanesville as well as the Scottish Rite in Cambridge and The Aladdin Shrine in Columbus, Ohio.

In later life Eddie became heavily involved in horse racing and was an often present figure at Scioto Downs, The Meadows and the Muskingum County Fairgrounds.  He enjoyed training Trotters as much as anything he did in his entire lifetime.  He was an X-Gamer before the term existed.  He enjoyed Motor Cycles, boats, cars and anything else that went fast.

The family would like to thank two very special people who made his life easier in the last years since the death of his beloved Dorothy.  Stephanie Buty his Granddaughter who was constantly at his side no matter what time of day.  Also his Brother In Law Jim Dillon and family always remembered him during the Holidays and family events and he loved being part of their gatherings.  Stephanie and Jim continued to make Zanesville feel like home to him and his family will always be appreciative of the love and support they all provided.

Eddie never knew a stranger and he always made an impression.

Per Eddie's request, no services will be held.  To sign the online guestbook please visit www.delongbakerlanning.com

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation on his behalf to an Alzheimer’s/Dementia organization.

Eddie lived life to the fullest and he will be missed by family and friends!
