David Leroy Shimer

David Leroy Shimer Sr., 72, of Zanesville, passed away March 28, 2017 at his residence. 

He was born December 29, 1944 in Zanesville, son of the late, Freeman Shimer and Catherine Sweitzer Shimer.

He is survived by his sons, David Shimer Jr. of Zanesville, Mark (Becca) Shimer of Missouri; daughters, Tammy (Gary) Hampton of Zanesville; sisters, Carol Stotts of Zanesville, Carolyn Sue (Robert) Dupler of Zanesville; grandchildren, Travis (Sarah) Shimer of Missouri, Josh (Rachel) Shimer of Hawaii, Erika Shimer of Missouri, Bobbie Sue Shimer of Missouri, Johnny Campfield of Zanesville, Matthew (Amy) Campfield of Missouri, Sarah Shimer of Texas; several great-grandchildren;  nieces, Melinda Stotts, Gayla Carder, Lisa Shimer, Amy Shimer, Rochelle Hughes, Melissa Miller, Susan Dupler; nephews, Doug Stotts, Roger Miller, Cory Dupler, Troy Dupler; several great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mullen Shimer; daughters, Brenda Parmer, infant daughter, Connie Sue Shimer; brothers, Donald Shimer, Eugene Shimer and Larry Shimer.

Calling hours will be held 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2017 at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will take place Monday, April 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Cody Updegrave officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
