William R. Vandegriff

William R. Vandegriff, 80, of Zanesville, passed away October 6, 2015 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House.

He was born August 29, 1935 in Zanesville, Ohio, son of the late Russell and Dorothy Rymell Vandegriff.  William retired from Brockway Glass and was a United States Navy veteran.  He was also a member of Eagles FOE # 302, VFW Post 1058 and American Legion Post 29.

William is survived by his daughter, Tami (Alan) Porter, of Byesville, Ohio; grandchildren, Jessica (Bradley Gebhart) Gallis; step-grandchildren, Amber (Matt) Lee and Lisa Marie Porter and great-grandchildren, Kaylee Jade, Baylee Anne, Wyatt and Brandon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Phyllis (Sue) Smith Vandegriff and Sandra Vandegriff.

A memorial gathering will be held 4-6 pm Thursday, October 8, 2015 at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, with Eagles and American Legion Post 29 services held prior to 6:00 p.m. Services will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael McGuire officiating.    

A private family burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Genesis Hospice Morrison House.
