Verlene Lavon Turner, 77, of Philo, passed away December 26, 2017 at Genesis Hospital.

She was born April 2, 1940 in Zanesville, daughter of the late, William D. Williams and Georgia Temple Williams.  She worked for the Times Recorder, Genesis Hospital and Brockway Glass, where she retired after thirty-three years.  She was a member on the American Legion Post 29, Eagle #302 of Zanesville and retiree club at Brockway.

She is survived by her husband of thirty-three years, Charles Turner; daughters, Rebecca Bookless, Renee Williams; step-son, Dennis (Connie) Turner; brothers, Dwight (Anna) Williams, Jerry (Penny) Williams; sister, Darlene Hartley; grandchildren, James Bookless, Rebecca (Kevin) Matson, John (Valerie) Bookless, Justin Williams; nine great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; several step-great-great-grandchildren; best friend, Shirley Tracey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Danny Hartley.

A graveside service for burial of cremains, will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at Zanesville Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Verlene Lavon Turner to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of one’s choice.
