Samuel M. Robinson of Roseville, OH died peacefully in OSU East Medical Center on September 5, 2017 in Columbus, OH at the age of 70.

Sam is survived by his wife, Sheila Thress Robinson, children: Samuel C. (Wendy) Robinson of Milford, PA, Brent (Wendy) McCutcheon of Nashport, OH, Misty (Karl Gentry) Speeks of Columbus, OH and Diamond (Shane) Bell of Newark, OH, grandchildren: Dakotah Sterling, Brage McCutcheon, Jade Robinson, Savanah Speeks, Isabella Robinson, Sammy C. Robinson, Jr., and Khloe Gentry, and siblings: Randy Robinson of South Zanesville, OH, Mark Robinson of Nashport, OH and Nicki Hawkins of Zanesville, OH. 

Samuel M. Robinson was born on April 26, 1947 in Zanesville, OH to Samuel A. and Hilda I. Robinson. He graduated from Zanesville High School in 1965. He married Sheila Thress Robinson, in 1974.

After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served our country and protected our freedom during the Vietnam War.  In 1968, he began working for American Electric Power as a Line Mechanic D.  He eventually transferred to the Crooksville, OH power station where he retired in 2009 as a Lead Lineman.  He was a very active member in his local IBEW union where he held various positions and volunteered hundreds of hours assisting fellow lineman with their Worker’s Compensation claims.  His children remember him as a kind, gentle, patient, understanding, supportive and driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.

Sam was also very active in the Prophets Park Amrou Grotto where he attained the title of Master of Ceremonies.  He loved the Cincinnati Bengals, his Harley Davidson, beating his children at Euchre, and jamming to “the boys” (AC/DC).  He was a member on VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and American Legion Post 29.

Calling hours will be held at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.  A funeral is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to service.  Reverend Larry Kudart will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sam’s life.  Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.

 The family would like to thank the OSU hospital staff especially Karah Mcneely for their efforts and care.
