Ralph E Bland

Ralph E. Bland, 89, of Zanesville, passed away July 31, 2017 at Cedar Hill Care Center.

He was born January 6, 1928 in Zanesville, son of the late, Dean Bland and Bessie Pierce Bland.  He worked at McGraw Edison for forty-five years.  Ralph served his country in the United States Army.  He was a member of the Zanesville Aerie #302 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, VFW Post 1058 and American Legion Post 29.

He is survived by his best friend and caregiver, Martha Mitchell of Zanesville; cousin, Barbara Lou Dailey; step-son, Ed (Carolyn) Rider; granddaughter, Chelsea (Brian) Luby; two great-grandchildren; special friend, Charlie Harmon.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wives, Norma Mingus Bland, Beulah Rider Bland; sister, Vernadine Clice; beloved dog, Cookie.

Calling hours will be held 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will take place Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the United States Army in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post 1058.
