James Lewis Gill "Grandpa"

James Lewis Gill “Grandpa”, 81, of Zanesville, passed away January 3, 2016 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House.

He was born November 27, 1934 in Roseville, Ohio, son of the late Vernon Howard Gill and Iva Vella Lewis Gill.  He enjoyed karaoke, woodworking and fishing.  He worked as a pottery worker for Holiday Design Pottery, Ungmach Pottery, McCoy Pottery, Designer Accent Pottery and worked at Red Lobster.

James is survived by his children, Marilyn Sue (Tim) Pitre, Betty Jean (Gene) Pierce, Alan Dale (Sally) Gill, Norman Eugene Gill, Douglas James (DeAnna) Gill, Robert Lee Gill, Vernon Howard (Theresa) Gill, Marie Lavina Gill; brothers, Phillip (Mary) Gill, Gene Gill, Howard (Linda) Gill; twenty-one grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren and special friend, Sue Patton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Sommers Gill and son, Terry Lewis Gill.

Calling hours will be held 2-4 pm & 6-8pm, January 6, 2016 and 10-11am, January 7, 2016 at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will take place 11:00 am at the funeral home. 

Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. 

Friends and family are welcome to attend a fellowship at The Knights of Columbus at the Sunrise Center in Zanesville following the burial.
