Charles E. Lichtner, 75 of 807 Homewood Avenue, Zanesville, OH passed away 14 June 2017 at his residence.
He was born 20 September 1941 a son of Frederick W. and Margaret L. Porter Lichtner in Zanesville. He worked as a sheet metal worker, was at one time a Muskingum County Deputy Sheriff and retired from Starfire. Chuck loved tinkering in his shop, riding motorcycles and especially being with his family. He thought he was an excellent cook. He helped many young people who came into his life with love and the hard truth.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth Ellen Brown Lichtner whom he married 6 August 1961; four children: Tricia (Jeff) Reilly, Zanesville; Lisa (Dirk) Pauley, Fort Wayne, IN, Thomas (Teresa) Lichtner, Zanesville; David Lichtner, Zanesville and almost son, Bobby Newsom, Cincinnati, OH; twelve grandchildren: Jeff(Krystal) Reilly, Jeremy (Tressa) Reilly, Jessica (Tyler) Basham, Justin (Andrea) Reilly, Tommy (Jenn) Lichtner, Taisha Lichtner, Tisha Lichtner, Teasha Lichtner, Carrie Lichtner, Emily Lichtner, Laiken Pauley and Kyrie Pauley; twenty two great-grandchildren and his special fur babies, George, Buddy and Tina Marie; sisters, Dolores (David) Roberts, Zanesville; Linda Lee, Mobile AL, Deborah (Kevin) Deal of Chandlersville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Jerry Lichtner and Fritz Lichtner and one granddaughter Tasha Lichtner.
Calling hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 Friday, June 16, 2017 at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 17, 2017. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Wayne Hogue officiating.
