Bernice Lucille Moore Harper, 98, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away at 8:08 pm, Thursday June 18, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born March 12, 1917 in Gilmore, West Virginia, daughter of William and Virgie F. Simmons Moore. Bernice was a homemaker for most of her life and was formerly employed as a cook for ODC Nursing Home. She loved Elvis Presley and enjoyed playing Bingo.
She is survived by two daughters, Bernice Haines and Connie (Lyle) Watts, both of Zanesville; one son, William D. (Bonnie) Harper of Ochlocknee, Georgia; two daughters-in-law; 210 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Harper, Sr., whom she married October 20, 1934 and who passed May 26, 1964; two sons, Harry L. Harper, Jr. and John L. Harper; two daughters, Violet L. Harper Blake and Leona M. Harper Smith; two sisters; seven brothers; one infant; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held 2–4 pm and 6–8 pm Monday, June 22, 2015 at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday June 23, 2015 at Norval Park Church of Christ, 845 Arch St., Zanesville, Ohio 43701, with Pastor Tim Gainer officiating.
Interment will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery.
